Q:
What does a pet sitter do exactly?
A:
It can be stressful for pets when their owners leave. Being able to remain in their own homes can reduce that stress level significantly. Pet sitters fill the void for pets when their human companions are away. In addition to feeding, walking, cleaning cages or litter boxes, pet sitters also provide much needed love and attention while you are away. Pet sitters may also administer medications, perform other pet care duties and home-care services such as watering plants, putting out garbage, providing a security routine, etc.
Q: What are the advantages for my pet?
A:
1. The biggest advantage is reduced stress. Your pet is able to stay in their own home and in familiar surroundings and are also able to maintain their usual routine.
2. Diet and Exercise – Your pet is able to maintain the same feeding and exercise routines. This reduces the occurrence of medical problems upon your return.
3. Health Concerns – with a pet sitter, your pet is not exposed to other animals and the possible illnesses they may carry, such as kennel cough.
4. T.L.C. - your pet receives plenty of love and attention while you are away. Due to the large number of dogs kennels house, it is impossible for them to provide the individual attention and care that a pet sitter can.
Q: What are the advantages for me?
A:
1. No Travel – When you have a million and one things to do before leaving on vacation or business trip, you won’t have to add driving your pet to the kennel to the list.
2. Security – Instead of seeing an empty house, people will see a house with a lived-in appearance. Someone will be coming and going throughout the day, switching lights on and off, taking in the mail and newspapers.
3. No Imposing on Friends – It is difficult to have to ask friends and family to take care of your pets when you go away and can become an imposition. As well-meaning as they are, they may not provide the quality care for your pets that a pet sitter will.
4. Peace of Mind – Just knowing that your pet and your home are in the hands of a reliable, experienced and dependable care taker can mean less worry for you while you are away.

Q: What can I do for the pet sitter before I leave?
  A:
1. Make sure you leave the phone numbers and locations of where you will be.
2. Leave plenty of food, litter and other needed supplies.
3. Leave a key or garage door opener. You may want to consider becoming a member of our Key Keeper Program.
4. Let your pet sitter know of any changes in food or care that may have changed since the last time you went away.
5. Tell the pet sitter about anyone who may be coming to your house, such as landscaping or house cleaning people and or any deliveries or packages you may be expecting.

Q: What is the Key Keeper Program?

Happy Dog Pet Sitting will keep a copy of your house key in our office for your convenience. We take every precaution to safeguard your home. Your key will never be identified by name or address, but rather assigned a code. The key Keeper Program provides many benefits:
1. Anytime you are running late you can just call and we can take care of your pet so you don’t have to worry.
2. You won’t have to make time to get a key to us before your vacation. All you have to do is call.
3. If you are ever locked out of your house, just call us.

Not only is the program free, but you will save the fee for key pick-up and drop-off each time you go away.
